What we do in Charlotte

Comfort and cold rooms for Charlotte.

Charlotte has 199 neighborhoods, and the equipment varies as much as the houses do. Some systems got squeezed into homes built long before central air. Every visit starts with a real diagnosis.

01 / HOME

Residential HVAC

AC and heat pump repair, furnace service, system replacements and seasonal tune-ups. In an older Myers Park house, the ducts often snake through a crawlspace or a tight attic that was never planned for them. We test the system you have and talk about repair first.

Commercial HVAC

Rooftop units, split systems and maintenance plans for offices, retail and light industrial buildings. Charlotte is counted as the second-largest banking center in the nation, and nobody does good work on a warm office floor in August. We leave the roof tidy.

Commercial Refrigeration

Walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-ins, ice machines and display cases. South End and Plaza Midwood run on restaurants and bars, and every kitchen there needs cold storage that holds temperature through a long service. Call when a box starts to drift.

Why PPR in Charlotte

A city built in layers.

Dilworth opened in 1891 as Charlotte's first streetcar suburb. Plaza Midwood was laid out in 1910, and Myers Park grew up after 1911. NoDa took shape around a textile mill that started in 1903. Ballantyne didn't begin until 1992. Each era left a different kind of house with its own mechanical headaches. That spread is why we diagnose before we recommend.

  • You call the owner, and the owner shows up.
  • Repair comes first. Replacement is never the opening pitch.
  • Clear options with prices, laid out before any work begins.
  • Your house or kitchen ends up cleaner than when we arrived.

Old ducts in Dilworth and Myers Park

Most of Dilworth is bungalows, and Myers Park leans toward Colonial Revival and Tudor Revival homes. None of them were designed around central air. Ductwork got added later, usually wherever it would fit. We find crawlspace runs that have pulled apart and returns too small for the blower. A new condenser won't fix a leaky duct. For an addition or a finished attic, a ductless mini-split is sometimes the cleaner answer. We trace the airflow first. Nobody in a historic district wants plaster opened up on a guess.

Sticky summers and long run times

Charlotte's climate is humid subtropical. The average July high is a little over 90°F, and the city sees about 44 days a year at 90 or above. Annual relative humidity sits around 67 percent. For most of the summer your air conditioner is pulling moisture out of the house, not just heat. A dirty evaporator coil or a clogged drain line leaves rooms damp even with the thermostat turned way down. A system that runs nonstop and still misses setpoint deserves a proper look before anyone writes a replacement quote.

Mild winters belong to heat pumps

January in Charlotte averages a high near 52°F and a low just under freezing. That kind of winter suits a heat pump, and you'll find them all over town. Here a heat pump heats and cools, so it barely gets a break. Defrost controls wear out on that schedule. Plenty of older homes in Elizabeth still keep a gas furnace as backup. It sits quiet for months. Then one of the city's roughly 59 freezing nights arrives and a tired igniter quits. A fall visit finds it first.

Kitchens and rooftops in South End and Uptown

South End grew up around the railroad and textile mills like Atherton Mill. Today the old mill blocks hold offices and apartments, with restaurants and bars along South Boulevard and the Rail Trail. The neighborhood has long been a center of the city's craft brewing scene, and Uptown keeps adding restaurants of its own. That means rooftop units and walk-ins grinding through August. A taproom cooler that slips a few degrees on a Friday night is a real loss. Clean condenser coils prevent most of that. When something fails, you're talking with the person who'll be on the roof.

Charlotte HVAC questions

What Charlotte customers ask us

Which parts of Charlotte do you serve?

All of it, inside the I-485 loop and around it. That runs from older neighborhoods like Dilworth and NoDa down to Ballantyne near the South Carolina line. Call 704-388-0851 and the person who picks up is the person who does the work.

My bungalow has hot rooms upstairs. Is the AC dying?

Not necessarily. Older Charlotte homes often have ducts added decades after the house was built, and those runs leak or come up undersized. We check airflow and refrigerant charge, then look hard at the ducts, before blaming the equipment.

Is a heat pump a good fit for Charlotte?

For most homes, yes. Winters are mild, with January lows averaging right around freezing, so a heat pump carries most of the heating season without much strain. Some houses pair one with a gas furnace for the coldest nights. We'll look at your setup and explain the choices plainly.

Do you work on restaurant refrigeration in South End?

We do. Refrigeration is one of our three trades. A busy kitchen can't wait around, so tell us what the box is doing when you call. We diagnose on site and give you repair options before starting anything.

Our Ballantyne house came with a builder-grade system. Time to replace it?

Not automatically. Plenty of builder-grade units have good years left once they're cleaned and charged correctly. Either way, you'll see the numbers for both paths before you decide anything.
