01 / HOME

Residential HVAC

Monroe summers are long and sticky, so AC and heat pump repair is most of our home work here. Furnace service, tune-ups and full replacements are part of it too. Older houses near downtown often need duct fixes before they need new equipment. We check that first.

Commercial HVAC

Offices, retail and light industrial space along US 74 and US 601 mostly run on rooftop units and split systems. We repair them and tell you plainly which units are worth fixing. A dirty coil or a failing contactor costs less to catch in April than in July.

Why PPR in Monroe

A county seat with old bones and new growth.

Monroe was laid out as a planned town in 1843 and has been the Union County seat ever since. That history shows in the buildings. The downtown and residential historic districts hold older homes and storefronts with tight chases and patched ductwork. Newer houses and commercial strips keep spreading along US 74 and the Expressway. We size the fix to the building.

  • Older homes in the historic districts get a duct and airflow check before any talk of new equipment.
  • Cooling does most of the work here, and we tune heat pumps with that in mind.
  • Commercial buildings with rooftop units can sign up for a written maintenance plan you can actually follow.
  • Every job site is left cleaner than we found it.

Humid summers mean long run times

Monroe shares Charlotte's humid subtropical climate. July highs average around 90 degrees, and the region sees about 44 days a year at or above that mark. Average humidity in July and August runs over 70 percent. Muggy days run from May into late September. Coils load up with dirt and pollen over a season that long. A house that stays clammy usually means an airflow problem or an oversized system. We check the charge and clean the coils before anyone mentions a new unit.

Mild winters favor heat pumps

Winter here is short. January highs average in the low 50s, and the Charlotte area averages about 59 freezing nights a year. That mix is why heat pumps are so common in Monroe homes. They lean on backup heat strips only during cold snaps. A heat pump living on strips shows up on your power bill first. The usual cause is a stuck reversing valve or a bad defrost board. Older houses still run gas furnaces, and we service those too. A cracked heat exchanger is the one thing we won't patch.

Historic houses need a careful hand

Several Monroe places sit on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Union County Courthouse, the Monroe Downtown Historic District and the Monroe Residential Historic District. Homes in these areas went up long before central air. Many got ductwork added later, squeezed through crawlspaces and attics. You can set a brand new system on bad ducts and still have hot bedrooms upstairs. We'd rather seal what's there first, then talk equipment.

Shops, plants and storefronts

Monroe began as a trading center for the tobacco farms of the Piedmont. Ludwig drums and timpani have been made in Monroe since 1984, and the old Piedmont Buggy Factory is listed on the National Register. Plenty of buildings around town run rooftop units that bake in full sun all summer. A maintenance plan with spring and fall visits keeps the coils clean and catches worn belts before they snap. You'll also hear which units have years left and which ones are quietly costing you money.

Monroe HVAC questions

Questions we hear in Monroe

Do you serve all of Monroe, including downtown?

Yes. We work across Monroe, from the historic blocks around the Union County Courthouse out to the newer neighborhoods off US 601 and the Monroe Expressway. Call 704-388-0851 and tell us what the system is doing. You'll be talking with the people who do the work.

Should I repair or replace my AC?

Usually repair, at least first. We find what actually failed and give you options with costs before any work starts. A unit that's old, leaking refrigerant in several spots or sitting on a dead compressor may be worth replacing. You decide. We won't push a new system when a part will do.

Why does my house feel humid even when the AC runs?

Monroe summers are damp, with average humidity above 70 percent in July and August. An AC only pulls moisture out when air crosses the coil slowly enough. Oversized units short-cycle and leave that moisture behind. Dirty coils and low charge cause the same thing. We test for each.

Do you work on restaurant walk-ins and ice machines?

We do. Commercial refrigeration is one of our three trades. We repair walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-ins, ice machines and display cases for restaurants and stores around Monroe. If product is at risk, call instead of emailing.

Can you set up a maintenance plan for my building?

Yes. We build plans for offices, retail and light industrial spaces running rooftop units or split systems. Visits land before the cooling and heating seasons. Each one covers coils, belts, electrical parts and refrigerant. You get a plain written report afterward.
